To demonstrate the effectiveness of in-house farming, the Trees for Kenya Farmer Field School has constructed a greenhouse for training purposes. The greenhouse provides farmers with a practical learning environment where they can observe modern farming techniques and understand the benefits of controlled crop production.
Drip irrigation has been installed to support efficient watering of the crops. The greenhouse is managed through crop rotation and is planted with tomatoes, cucumbers, and capsicum. This approach helps farmers improve productivity while making better use of available resources.
The greenhouse farming method conserves water by reducing evaporation and evapotranspiration. It also protects crops from pests, diseases, and harsh environmental conditions, which contributes to healthier plants and higher yields.
